Summer is here and our calendars are filling up quickly! Prepare your closet for daytime outings and summer soirées with the timeless summer trends that will take you from alfresco garden lunches to wedding receptions. Keep reading to learn about our picks for versatile styles you can wear in the sunshine and under the stars.
1. Big Dresses
Effortlessly easy, midi-length voluminous dresses are not only a great look, they are super versatile all-in-ones that you can wear all day and easily accessorize into the evening. They are a great alternative to shorts if wearing shorts isn’t your thing.
These full style dress silhouettes have evolved over the past couple of seasons with some fun prints and embellishments, different fabrications and even more volume. (Note: the taller you are, the more length and volume you can carry. If you are more petite, keep the volume but raise the hemline). The vibe is a relaxed yet pulled together look that you can live in all summer long. Wear flat sandals for the most chic up-to-date look.
2. The Forever White Tee
Call it a basic or a staple, a white tee is the key to no fuss summer dressing. Some iteration of a white tee will always remain a constant in your closet. Find a classic cut that you love and buy 3 or 4 because you’ll wear them on repeat with everything from jeans and shorts to slip skirts and wide leg trouser pants and boyfriend blazers.
If you want to add some depth and newness to your classic tee collection, we are loving the latest updates to classic tees, such as shoulder pads, tie fronts and cut outs.
3. Easy Sandals
When it’s summertime and the living is easy, comfort is key! Classic style gets a major update this season with exciting fabrications, colors, leathers and elevated footbed soles. Our favorite sandal silhouette is “no hands” slides that you can easily slip your feet into and go! Think: Birkenstock-inspired silhouettes, minimalist leather slides and thong style sandals. Our other summer footwear favorites include white sneakers and espadrilles.
4. Wide Leg Pants
When temperatures soar, we all want to wear things that help keep us cool. Another great option (besides the aforementioned “big dresses”) is wide leg pants. Breezy, comfortable and versatile, these oh so chic pants can be styled up with a tailored button down or puffy sleeve top and a high strappy sandal, or down, with a white tee and sneakers or flat leather slides. Paper bag waists are a fun detail that emphasizes the waist and lightweight fabrics like linen, cotton and silk will keep you looking great and feeling cool. We love the look of white sneakers with tailored wide leg pants. Our other favorite summer pant choice is white jeans. Find the cut you love and wear them all summer long!
5. Summer Handbags
Our two must-have bags for summer are a bucket bag and a woven bag.
The bucket bag is a timeless shape that comes in various sizes, depending on your preference. Most are 2-way bags which means they come with a shoulder strap so they can be carried crossbody or handheld, making them the perfect on-the-go accessory.
Woven bags, typically made from straw, raffia or wicker, are summer staples and add a fabulous textural element to any summer outfit. A big beautiful woven tote bag is an extremely versatile piece that can be just as easily carried to the beach as out to dinner. Smaller, more structured woven bags come in all different shapes and sizes, and due to their neutral colorations, look great with everything from casual denim looks to summer dresses and skirts.
6. Other Accessories
Gold jewelry always looks timeless but looks especially good when paired with a light and bright summer-ready wardrobe. Whether you prefer delicate necklace layering or chunky chain looks, going for the gold is a win-win this season.
Colored sunglasses are not only extremely functional (hello UV protection for our eyes), but a total mood. Find a shape that suits your face and rock a fun color to change up your look and add an interesting element to every outfit. Ready to throw some shade?
Happy Summer Everyone!
